Kosovo’s judicial system exists to serve the public interest. Kosovo’s judicial system belongs to all citizens of Kosovo regardless of their national origin, ethnicity or gender.
Basic Court of Ferizaj is one of seven courts in the Republic of Kosovo. Basic Court of Ferizaj has two branches: Kacanik dhe Shtërpcë. Basic Court of Ferizaj and its two branches provide easier access to the services of the court of the first instance to the population of the region under the jurisdiction of the Basic Court of Ferizaj, including 122 villages.
As a court of first instance, the Basic Court in Ferizaj and its three branches deal with all kinds of cases. These cases are handled by specialized departments that operate within each basic court.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The branches of the court in Shtërpcë and Kacanik deal only with cases that are the competence of the General Department. Basic Court in Ferizaj is the main headquarter of the Judicial Region of Ferizaj which covers the municipalities of:

-Shtime
-Shtërpce
-Kaçanik
-Hani i Elezit
Court branches serve as geographical subdivision of the Basic Court and are located in Shtërpcë and Kacanik. Municipality of Shtërpcë and Kacanik are served from their branch, while municipality of Shtime, Hani i Elezit and Ferizaj are served from the Basic Court in Ferizaj.
